Coffee Guy & Choccy Girl
Hmmm....this is your run of the mill dark choccy that you can find pretty much everywhere. This chocolate didn't really do much for me. Maybe it's me, but I couldn't pick out ANY flavours at all! It tasted fruity in general, but there were no stand-out flavours on my palate. The description says it has undertones of vanilla, but I couldn't detect them. I guess as a budget everyday variety, this choccy does its job. I ate it thinking at least I'm getting a few health benefits, but that's about it.

Sorry Lindt!

Description: Lindt Excellence 70% cocoa solids

An extra refined and delicately fragrant smooth dark chocolate which has a strong, but not too intense cocoa flavour with subtle fruit undertones of natural vanilla.

I found this chocolate to be extremely fruity. Although the description states 'soft and spicy' I have to say that I didn't taste much more than the fruitiness. The predominant flavour was most definitely cherry. Coffee Guy thought the same thing. This is really our first serious foray into the world of dark chocolate, so we don't have much of a comparison yet. But if you want a fruity chocolate at an affordable price it's definitely worth a try. It is also Fairtrade and Organic, so your conscience can rest easy while you enjoy the health benefits of this 70% choccy.

Description: Fairtrade Santo Domingo dark chocolate. 70% cocoa solids.

Bittersweet dark chocolate made from Trinitario cocoa beans grown in the Dominican Republic by farmers who benefit from fairtrade. The Caribbean climate produces cocoa with a soft, spicy flavour. Santo Domingo cocoa has been produced since 1665, and benefits from both the Caribbean climate and the effects of the Atlantic, bringing out aromatic, intense cocoa flavours.
